Three Minute Thursday: SOLIDWORKS Online Licensing

Few things can be more frustrating than trying to use a tool and not having it available. Since a SOLIDWORKS Stand Alone license can only be active on one computer at a time, deactivating and reactivating is needed in order to use a different machine. Starting with SOLIDWORKS 2018 SP2.0, Online Licensing allows users to log in each time they start the software, from different machines and thus not need to transfer the activation each time. Active subscription is required for this to work.

This Three Minute Thursday video will go over how to switch a license to use this new feature. The account administrator needs to change the license to Online Licensing and then assign that license to the user. The user needs to modify his/her installation to login and start using the online licensing feature. This needs to be done on each machine the user plans to use.
